How to Use PSD Mockups

Mockups from Mockup Asia are built to be simple, fast and realistic. Whether you are a designer or a brand owner, using one takes a few minutes. Here is the quick reference.

Step-by-step

1. Open the PSD file

Extract the .zip after downloading, then open the .PSD in Adobe Photoshop (CC 2020 or newer recommended).

2. Locate the Smart Object layer

In the Layers panel, look for a layer named Your Design or ending in -Design — for example Label-Design, Lid-Design, Front-Design. These are Smart Object layers. Double-click the thumbnail to open and edit.

3. Insert your design

A new tab opens for the Smart Object. Paste or drag your artwork in and resize to fill the canvas. Press Ctrl + S (Windows) or Cmd + S (Mac) — not Save As. Close the tab to see the updated mockup.

4. Customize colours (if available)

Many mockups let you adjust item colours — bag, cap, background. In the Layers panel, look for layers named Color Fill or similar. Click the colour icon to open the picker and enter your HEX, RGB or CMYK value.

5. Export

Your design now sits realistically on the product, under the original photograph's lighting and shadows. Export as JPG, PNG or your preferred format.
